Selsey's working fishing fleet operates from East Beach, where boats are launched from and hauled up onto the shingle. Fishermen land crab and lobster from small boats, continuing a tradition that dates back centuries. Fresh seafood can sometimes be purchased directly from the fishermen. The beach has fishermen's huts, equipment and the distinctive sight of boats drawn up on the shingle.
