New RNLI Lifeboat Station Completed
2017
In 2017, a new RNLI lifeboat station was completed at Selsey Bill, replacing the previous facility. The new station is a modern structure built on stilts at the end of a long elevated walkway extending from the shore. The design allows the lifeboat to be launched directly into the water regardless of the state of the tide. The station houses both an all-weather lifeboat and an inshore lifeboat, crewed by local volunteers who are on call around the clock. The new station is a prominent landmark at Selsey Bill and a source of great pride to the community. Selsey's lifeboat crews have saved hundreds of lives since the station was first established in 1861, and the new facility ensures that the service will continue for generations.
